How do you handle the constant demands of life? Do you never seem to have enough time to spend it with your family? Is your business or job pulling you in different directions all the time? Are you constantly putting your self care on the back burner? Are you running all around town to take the kids to every extracurricular activity you could sign them up for? How to do catch up and take a breath? Just stop, and say “No More”. Think about what is truly important to you and your family. The key is to find balance. I’m not saying to give up everything or never push hard to reach your goals. I am suggesting to really think about how you are spending your days and what changes can be made to find the balance your soul is craving. If you need more quality family time, you could plan a weekly family night or have a lazy day on the weekend to just relax and watch movies. If you need more time with just you and your spouse, you can go on a monthly date night that you both can look forward to. If you are spending too much time working, it might be time to cut back on the overtime at the office or if you work from home then set a time at night that you are not going to work past. We need to put boundaries up to keep from overextending ourselves. Maybe it is time to treat yourself to a pampering session with the girls, or take 30 minutes to yourself and take a luxurious bubble bath. Doesn't that sound heavenly? We need to take some time for ourselves once in a while. It will be ok and the family will survive without you for a little bit. Balance will help keep us from burning ourselves out when we just want to keep going but our body is telling us otherwise. We can't keep going 24/7, and we can't be lazy everyday either. But when you can find the proper balance between the two, your mind, body, and soul will thank you. Keep in mind what is truly important in that moment. Is it answering one more email or talking to your kids about how their day went and really showing them that you are listening? Would you rather spend some time writing in your journal or spend the day scrubbing the bathroom from top to bottom until it sparkles? Don't worry, the cleaning will still be there and you can always do it the next day. Don't regret not spending time with your family, going on the trip you've been dreaming of, reading the book that has been laying on your nightstand, spending time with your friends, making that call to your mom, or anything that you have been putting off for far too long. Live the life you deserve, stop making excuses and holding yourself back. Balance helps us find joy in this crazy, hectic world. And isn't living a wonderfully joyful life what it's all about?
Lots of Hope & Love,
